How Do You Cannabis? Top Marijuana Delivery Methods and How to Use Them

You love the effects of cannabis, and you are elated that it is so accessible today. But, let’s face it, it can be slightly overwhelming to decide what to do with it and which consumption preference. Do you vape it, smoke it, roll it, ingest it? The options are plentiful.

In this HighHello guide to cannabis consumption, we will outline the 10 top top marijuana delivery methods and how to use them in ways people deliver cannabis into their system. So, next time you stand at the counter of your favorite dispensary or receive your new HighHello delivery box, you will know your approach and be empowered with choice.

Using a One Hitter

A one-hitter is a small pipe that looks like a cigarette, often called a “bat.” One-hitters can be used and purchased alone or in a handy tool called a “dugout.” On one side of the dugout, there is a small container for ground-up flower. The one-hitter is on the other side. Simply take out the bat, dig a little out of the chamber, and light up one perfectly packed hit.

One-hitters are convenient for “one-hit wonders” who enjoy small doses at a time or those on the go for easy packing.

Tincture and Oils

THC tinctures and oils are relatively straightforward. The THC or CBD is extracted from the plant and made into an oil. It comes in a bottle with a dropper to take sublingually. Sub-what? That means you drop a few drops under your tongue to be absorbed into your bloodstream faster than swallowing. Follow product guidelines but generally try to hold under tongue for an extended period. Tinctures are popular for medical users, especially since the dropper has dosage meters.

Marijuana in Capsule Form

Capsules are good options for people who like the “take a pill” concept of medical treatment. Like tinctures, the oil is extracted from the plant. Instead of being put into a bottle, it is encapsulated for swallowing and comes in a handy bottle.

Dabbing Concentrates

Hash smoking has been around a long time but modern dabbing is the new kid on the block regarding cannabis consumption. Why? Because concentrates are relatively new to the game but are also gaining in popularity. Concentrates, as the name implies, are highly concentrated forms of cannabis, usually called wax or shatter.

A dab rig is used to consume the smoke from these concentrates and looks very much like other bongs but with a different “bowl” attachment.

If you are new to cannabis, we will caution against this method of cannabis consumption until you are well-versed in how cannabis affects you. Otherwise, like always start small, a dab’ll do ya!

What’s a Spliff?

Spliffs are a happy medium between joints and blunts. Like blunts, a spliff contains both cannabis flower and tobacco, but it is rolled in traditional rolling paper. Again, non-smokers may want to avoid this type of cannabis consumption.

Rolling Joints

There is a certain amount of nostalgia that comes with smoking a joint. It is simple, straightforward, and has virtually no cleanup. Just wrap it, smoke it, and enjoy. That’s why it’s one of the top marijuana delivery methods.

How to roll a joint:

  1. Grind your weed and remove the stems and seeds.
  2. Fold your paper in half, with another small fold near one end.
  3. Fill your paper with weed and start rolling with your fingers.
  4. Try to get it as tight as you can.
  5. If using a filter, place it at the end of the joint.
  6. Light the non-filtered end and enjoy.

Tip: Use rolling papers that are unbleached and unrefined. Some papers have additives that can be harmful to your lungs. Keep it simple!

Smoking Blunts

Another top marijuana delivery method is smoking blunts. A blunt is similar to a cigar in many ways. It is the practice of mixing cannabis flower into a cigar roll. This gives the smoker a unique experience, especially if the cigar papers are flavored.

Blunts tend to be larger and burn slower than a joint due to the paper they are rolled in. Blunt wraps are typically made from tobacco leaves which do mean nicotine is being consumed. So, if you are an ex-smoker, you may want to use it cautiously.

How to Roll a Blunt:

  1. Grind your weed in a grinder removing stems and seeds.
  2. Slice open a cigar lengthwise and remove the tobacco or use blunt papers.
  3. Empty the tobacco
  4. Dip your fingers in water to moisten the paper a bit.
  5. Fill the wrap with your cannabis or a combination of cannabis and tobacco.
  6. Roll and refasten the paper
  7. Light up!

Vaping Cannabis Oil, Flower, and Concentrates

Ah, vaping. It’s all the rage these days. Mainly due to its clean delivery and conspicuous odor. But we will not say it is safer than smoking; it’s just different. Anytime you inhale anything into your lungs, yes, even air, it has a risk of irritation. So, if you choose to vape, use it with caution.

You can vape dry herb, oil, or wax. Dry herb is put directly into a vaporizing device for heat extraction. What is left is the vapor that can be inhaled into the lungs.

Most commonly, oil is vaped in the form of a cartridge and is attached to a vape battery or “pen”. There are different types that include; distillate, live resin & hash rosin.

Consuming Cannabis Edibles

Edibles. They are a lot of fun, not to mention delicious! They come in gummies, browning, chocolates, water, beverages, lollipops, etc. The base for most edibles is cannabis oil which is then used to make many delicious deliverables.

But there is a word of caution with cannabis edibles. If you are not accustomed to edibles, obey the critical rule: start low and slow. Edibles tend to sneak up on you, and many variables play into that, such as eating on a full or empty stomach, time of day, other medications, and so on. So, use caution, and don’t consume it while hungry! You may overeat and have a less-than-enjoyable experience.

Smoking Cannabis in Pipes & Bowls

Pipes and small bowls are uber convenient. They are also more suited for single-person consumption. You won’t want to pass your pipe around like you would a joint, spliff, or blunt. Take it out, load it with ground flower, and light it up. These small bowls and pipes are great for people who enjoy personal consumption but want more than what a one-hitter can provide.

They do require cleaning, however. To clean your bowls and pipes, take a ziplock bag, rubbing alcohol, and salt, and let your bowl sit in the bag for a while. Shake it repeatedly to dislodge any stuck resin from the bowls. Repeat as needed. This will clean your device and make it look brand new.

How to smoke from a pipe:

  1. Grind up the marijuana in a grinder and remove the seeds and stems.
  2. Pack the bowl loosely about halfway.
  3. Light it up and take a puff.
  4. If the bowl has a small hole on the side (a carb), cover it with your finger when it lights up and release it when you inhale.
  5. Repeat until the bowl is cached (depleted) or you have had enough.

The Beauty of Bongs

Always on the list of top marijuana delivery methods is the bong. Bongs are somewhere between a functional piece of cannabis equipment and artwork. But no matter what they look like, they all tend to operate similarly. Fill with water, put cannabis in a receptacle, light, and inhale.

Bongs tend to deliver an easier smoking experience due to the water used to cool and filter the smoke. Most bongs have a bowl to put the ground cannabis flower into and a downstem, which is a glass cylinder. When you take a bong hit, the smoke goes down the downstem and is filtered through water before moving back up the neck to the mouthpiece.

Suppose you like to smoke marijuana but don’t like the harshness of paper. In that case, a bong might be an excellent alternative to use. Pro-tip: get an ash catcher for easier maintenance and extra filtration!

How to smoke from a bong:

  1. Pour water into the main chamber.
  2. Insert ground-up cannabis into the small bowl attachment.
  3. Put your mouth on the mouthpiece.
  4. Light the bowl with a lighter.
  5. Inhale.
  6. When the bong has filled with smoke, lift out the bowl and inhale to clear the rest of the smoke.

So, which of these cannabis consumption methods speaks to you? We recommend slowly trying each one to determine which one works for you.
